Pina Colada Drink

The Pina Colada is one of the relatively new cocktails that has become a standard in just over the last 50 years. The most reliable story has the Pina Colada drink as it is known today being invented in the mid 1950’s in Puerto Rico, at the Caribe Hilton’s Beachcomber Bar. The drink remains unchanged to this day, and we present a classic Pina Colada recipe for you here:

  • 2 or 3 ounces of rum (usually white or silver, but feel free to use your favorite rum)
  • 2 ounces Cream of Coconut (like Coco Lopez, not Coconut Milk)
  • 2 to 4 ounces Pineapple Juice

The instructions for an on the rocks Pina Colada recipe would be to simply mix the ingredients together and pour over ice. See our best Pina Colada recipe for a fuller explanation.

The drink is now more commonly served as a frozen or blended beverage. The ingredients are the same, with the exception of adding ice to the ingredients before blending. This is the classic recipe for a Pina Colada cocktail.
